I know a friend who resigned from a very good job to travel to Kasol. He needed 8 days off to go on this holiday to kasol and the boss refused. Very furious, he just wrote a resignation saying, “Job fills your Pocket, Adventure fills your Soul, Aab dil kehta hai Chalo KASOL”
He was not completely wrong in his decision. After years of city chaos, Traffic lights flashing everyday, Pollution level and the same office environment, we want to go to a place where not only the body but even soul relaxes. There is no better place than KASOL..


Kasol is a hill station not clustered with luxury stays and world cuisine restaurants, but you’ll be surprised with the warm hospitality of the villagers and locals in the Old and the New Kasol, separated by a small bridge. You can get a fair idea of the places to visit in the article below.

Places to visit in Kasol

1.  Malana Village

The village is also often referred to as the ‘little Greece of India.’
Malana is a small hamlet in Himachal that has self-isolated itself from the rest of the world. This serene location is a visual treat to eyes of the tourists and is indeed the top location to visit in kasol. Spellbinding terrains and distinct culture of this village are one of its kind and worth a visit.




2.  The Grand Indrahar Pass

The hiking expedition lets you experience the Dhauladhar range and Pir Panjal Mountains. The hiking trail is moderately difficult. On the way you hike through green pastures and navigate through dense forests. These are Deodar and Rhododendron jungles, and if you have never been to a tropical forest, then this could be an enchanting experience. You also trudge on the ancient Gaddi Shepherds trail.


3.  Seven Sisters Trek

5.  Manikaran Sahib

Manikaran Sahib is a Gurudwara that welcomes hundreds of Hindu and Sikh devotees throughout the year. At the peak of Manikaran Sahib originates a hot spring that flows through the temple premises. Several devotees take a dip in this holy water and believe that it washes away their sins. It's a sacred place you should visit in Kasol if you want to experience peace and tranquility.




6.  Kheer Ganga Peak

It is about 9 Kms long and passes through easy trails that lead to uphill. On reaching the top, to one’s surprise and delight; you can relax and rejuvenate in the hot water spring that originates at the top of the hill. A trekking like this cannot be ticked off elsewhere! You can also plan to stay on top of the hill for a night or so; the nearby hamlets offer several accommodation options.
     


7.  Tosh Village

There are a number of cafes you can visit in this place, while you are discovering other places to visit in Kasol. The more so European experience is definitely on your way if you are looking forward to tick off Tosh village. The best way to get to this village is by trekking up the hill and witnessing the unreal amaze of this small township in Kasol. Stone Garden Café: A 24-hour café with awesome food and ambience.
Freedom Café: It’s the music and the legacy of ‘freedom cafes’ that keeps it bustling most time of the year.
Jim Morrison Café: Great music after a small trek makes it special. Food is all vegetarian though.
Shiva Shanti Café: Terrace seating allows an enchanting view of the valley and the surrounding peaks.
The Evergreen Café: Don’t miss the church behind and the great food.
Moon Dance Café: Lovely setting, great food, and irresistibly good bakery.

Special Tip for Kasol Travel


§  Always carry hard cash with you. Kasol has only one ATM and it can be unreliable at best.
§  The Parvati river  is beautiful but dangerous.
§  Kasol is a smokers paradise.  Do not get carried away too much.
§  Carry a torch as the area is remote.
§ Avoid trekking during Monsoon, as it is very dangerous.
§  Respect the customs and don’t be too loud.
§  Local kids will come out and offer you services sometimes. They normally ask for 10 rupee for a shabby stick saying its good for trekking. Don’t break their heart. They are kids afterall.
§  If you are on a tight budget you can choose Busses that take you to Bhuntar and Manikaren for a very small fee. Try them.
§  If you want to leave for Bhuntar, it is advisable you leave early in the morning or a little later in the evening to avoid traffic jams.

How to Reach Kasol

A: By Bus/Car

It is considered as the most adventurous way to reach Kasol. On your way, you get a chance to please your eyes with the beauty of Indian valleys. The distance between the Delhi to Kasol is 526 km which can be covered by a Car or Volvo Buses. If you have no pre-booking for Volvo you can find one on the spot from the major bus station, ISBT Kashmeri Gate. Himachal Road Transport Corporation Buses operate from the same.

B: By Flight

Almost 31 Kms away, Bhuntar Airport located near Kullu is the nearest airport to the Kasol. It is connected to three cities Delhi, Pathankot and Shimla. You can hire local cabs or private vehicles from there to reach Kasol.

C: By Train

Pathankot serves as the nearest railhead at a distance of almost 150 Km, 
Himsagar Express, Andaman Express, Ten Jammu Express, and Sarvodaya Express are a few trains you can opt for. Chandigarh about 310 Km away is another option you can opt for. Taxis or private vehicles can be hired from here as well to reach Kasol.





Kasol is getting more commercial with lots and lots of Backpackers heading everyday. Please remember where you are and don’t carry too many plastics. We all go to Kasol for its beauty. So keep it beautiful…
