How to Save Money on Travel Plans
There are so many
things you learn when you start travelling. You get enlightened on how to save
on unnecessary expenses too. You start spending the saved money on an extra day
of your trip. I am sure you know almost all of these techniques. For beginners,
here is a push on saving money while you travel,
1.
Use An 8-Week Rule For Flights
Studies
have also shown that 8 weeks in advance is the perfect time to book your
flights. Any later and prices will start increasing and any earlier and your
plans could change due to unforeseen circumstances and you may have a worthless
ticket.
2.
Use Public Transport, Not Taxis
Use
luxury of taxis or Uber only to and from the airport when you are with luggage,
but otherwise, use public transport. It saves a lot of money. Try this?
3.
Make most from Complimentary Breakfast
If
you’re willing to skip breakfast just to get up late. Don’t!. Many reputed hotels
serve world-class breakfast. Make the most of it. Have as much as possible to
start your day. You can eat light in lunch. This is also a healthy way. Isn’t
it?
4.
Rent An Apartment
if
you are traveling in group, always rent an Appartment. It is easier than ever
to enjoy city breaks in comfort and style, you’ll find that renting an
apartment can work out a lot cheaper than an extended stay in a hotel, plus you
get the luxury of your own space and absolute privacy. You can also cook fewer
times and save a lot.
5.
Book In The Afternoon
Though
it’s well known that flight prices are likely to fluctuate during the week, not
many people know that they also change during the day. To save some money, book
in the afternoon as prices tend to be higher in the morning when business
travelers book most of their flights.
6.
Check Prices On The Less Popular Booking Sites
Some
Online Travel Booking sites allow you to search for the best price across a
number of different airlines and hotels at once. Oftentimes, the less popular
sites offer bigger discounts compared to the major websites. Be sure to
read the change/cancellation fees carefully before you book.
7.
Choose Affordable Accommodation
Other
than flights, hotels end up being the next most expensive thing when planning a
trip, but if you’re willing to sacrifice homogenous roadside enterprises for
something a little more economical, you can spend more on activities. In India
Homestays are a better option and is fun too.
8.
Roaming Charges
After
my first international trip, years ago, I came home to a huge cell phone bill. Just
take a local sim and keep the same whatsapp number like you had. Let people
call you thru wahatsapp. It is most economical way.
9.
Shop Like A Local
When
it comes to everyday items like fruit, Tea and coffee, find a local market and
head there instead of calling it through the hotel service.
10.
Make Use Of Your Carry-On Luggage
Virtually
every airline offers you one free bag of hand-luggage, so if you’re in doubt
about the weight of your larger cases, put as much of it into your hand luggage
as possible.
11.
Don’t Change Currency At The Airport
Oh
Never do that! Make sure you leave yourself time to exchange currency at your
bank. Airports are notorious for giving the worst exchange rates and for a
little extra effort you can save yourself a significant amount. It happened to
me in Thailand recently, our group ended up paying double the amount just
because there were no ATM’s on the airport around the on-arrival-visa area.
12.
Don’t Pay For WiFi, Find It For Free
Where
there are lots of people, there’s WiFi!. Remember this Mantra. if you’re surrounded
by bars and restaurants, use their free WiFi and save money.
13.
Find Free Things To Do
There
are so many things to do in a destination which are free. So rather paying huge
entry fees every day and every evening. Stick to free activities on some days
of your trip.
Hope
these techniques best suits you. Happy Travelling!
