Holiday in Mind - Best Excuses to give your Boss

1.   “Boss, I am not Well”

This is the most common excuse., but a tested one. You can mostly got get wrong with this one. Most people use it for a day or prolong it till weekend.

2.   “I got Contagious Disease which may get to everyone”

Just like Flu- Best one to get an off for good amount of days. Use them when the disease is prevalent and you would find your Boss himself asking you not to come to office.

3.    “Boss, I need Relaxation”

If you have returned after doing some hectic job, this will suit you. People often work late and at times more than 18 hours in office itself. Rest and relaxation is a genuine excuse to help your body recover. Ask him if he is humble, take it if he is not.

4.   “Boss, I have unavoidable work At Home”

If he asks further say the roof fell or the water pipe burst. Everyone has an important work at Home and how can you be different.

5.   “Boss, My Family Member is Not Well”

you will need to set this up. Ask the health of your boss’s family member when you come to know that they are unwell. That will show your care. Now after few days take an off saying your family member is not well. He cant say no. Witty, isn’t it?

6.   “Boss, Visa Appointments, can I take an off”

Trust me this works best. But only for a day. You can ask him for a leave for visa appointment. He will grant it since he himself knows how important they are.

7.   “Bad Weather Boss, will not be able to reach”

 In adverse weather conditions it is often easier to reach a resort than to reach office. It makes sense to take a day off as god gibes this opportunity. Just don’t bump into your boss at the resort pool.

8.   “Boss I need time for Preparations”

So you got family gathering at home and you wife needs you help. I don’t see any reason why your boss would refuse you a day off. He must be equally scared of his wife too.

9.   “Boss, I have visitors at home”

Relatives and friends do visit home and sometimes without any prior intimation. So this can also be a good excuse. You can remain absent and ask your Boss for a leave.

10.      “Boss, I fought with my neighbor, so am at cop station”

will he say no? how can he when you mentioned cops. Use this excuse and you boss won’t mind your absence. You have to convince him that you have people helping you too. else he might come down to see you.

11.  “Boss, I have to take care of my child today”

The babysitter has not shown up and you need to watch your kids. If your boss has kids he will say yes to this excuse without wasting a fraction.

12.  “Boss, Open house at school”

 People do ask for a day off when they have to visit their Children School. Such events take time and need your presence too. Most important you cannot miss them at all. So who can say no to it?.

 13.  “Boss, Old Health Problem”

 Always keep this problem alive in his eyes. Some old health problems has shown up suddenly and you are not feeling well. Take a day off on its name. it can help you sometimes right?

14.  “Boss, My Grandfather Passed away”

Talk about your grandfather to him a week before you want a leave. Though already dead, keep him alive for this moment. Book your holiday tickets in advance as nobody can say no to this excuse.  Again a witty stuff, God forgive me.

15. “Boss, I need to prepare for an exam”

your boss will often give you this Gyan to move ahead in life. He cannot say no to this excuse. Afterall he wants to be a part of your success story too.

I personally feel that it is always better to plan your day off in advance than to surprise your boss with unexpected excuses. But when boss is witty, you need to match with it too.  you can forward him with my other post stating the benefits of going on holiday, he wont say no to it.
