Myth # 1 - Thailand is only about Booze and Red Light Areas

Who doesn’t like to have a good time right? But unfortunately single foreign men coming to Thailand have the reputation that they are here only for working girls and mingling in the Bangkok red light district. Thailand is a diverse country with many great natural wonders and single men should not be singled out with any misconceptions. Thailand is much beyond Booze and girls.
Myth # 2 - You can bribe the police

Get in trouble, pay the police! Not a good idea dude. Not all Thai police are keen on accepting money from people who have done some kind of violation. Please show respect and when it comes to breaking the laws in Thailand, don’t test you luck. You might end up in extra trouble.
Myth # 3 - Everything in Thailand is cheap or cheaper than Western Countries

If you know the right places to go to in Thailand, then you can get away with local prices. Generally speaking anything made in Thailand is very inexpensive. However if you purchase imported or foreign made goods then you can expect to pay a much higher price.
Myth # 4 - Thailand ice in your drinks will get you sick

The truth is, Most Thai people do not drink tap water. The ice that they use is not chilled tap water. Nearly everyone uses filtered water for Ice which makes it safe. Most decent restaurants in Bangkok and Phuket also have commercial RO or reverse osmosis systems to filter water and ice.
Myth # 5 - Alcohol is everywhere and easy to get and drink just anywhere

Thailand is famous for their exciting night life and crazy full moon parties, alcohol is everywhere but did you know that you cannot just drink alcohol in public areas like parks, hospitals, train station, etc. Also, There are restricted hours for convenience stores like 7/11 to sell alcohol. Every Day from 2pm to 5pm and from Midnight to 11am locks are put on the fridges and the cashiers will not take the risk of selling it. There is also a ban on selling alcohol during religious holidays and election time.
Myth # 6 - Thailand is not Kid Friendly

Bangkok might be known sin-city but there is always more to Thailand than just adult escapades. There are dozens of things for the family to do such as water parks, Bangkok zoo, local island hopping that are perfect for family bonding.
Myth # 7 - Tuk-Tuk drivers are evil

Well, Not every Tuk Tuk driver in Thailand is mean, though there are a plenty that try to overcharge tourists but in general most organized tuk tuk pickup locations and droop offs are usually flat rates agreed upon before.  If you pickup Tuk-Tuks as a short cut/between streets than expect to get ” high rates”
Myth # 8 - All food in Thailand is spicy

Thai people love their chilies but they understand that not everyone has the same taste in food. You may ask them to get it less spicy if you wish to or just ask them for a dish which is non spicy, they have lot of options.
Myth # 9 - Thailand People are vegetarians

It is an understandable misconception since the majority of people in Thailand are Buddhists but people eat meat and seafood all the time. You find them on all the places from restaurants to streets.
Myth # 10 - Thailand is a dangerous country

The political riots in Thailand a few years back gave some people the impression that Thailand is a dangerous place. This is not true. Thailand is one of the safest destinations in the World and men and single women find it the ideal starting point in their international traveling adventures. The simple truth is, bad people exist throughout the world. Don’t assume that ALL people living in Thailand are violent just because of a few demonstrations.
