Ideal Itinerary : 9 Days

Route : Bagdogra → Kewzing → Darap → Pelling → Yuksom → Payong → Gangtok → Bagdogra

 

                 Ideal Itinerary – 9 days

Day 1 - Bagdogra to Kewzing

Arrive at Bagdogra airport and drive to Kewzing village.
Overnight at home-stay in Kewzing.

Day 2 - Kewzing

Set against the backdrop of Mt. Narsing and Mt. Kabru, this predominant Bhutia village is located in South Sikkim. When translated in the local Bhutia language, the name means ‘Land of Wheat Fields’. Three monasteries belonging to three different Buddhist sects makes it the ideal place to learn about the Buddhist way of life. The village boasts of the only Bon monastery in all of Sikkim.
In the morning go for a short hike to Mangbrue, amongst the chirping of birds.
During the day roam around the village and pay a visit to the Bon monastery.
Overnight at home-stay in Kewzing.

Day 3 - Kewzing to Darap

Post breakfast drive to Pelling and visit the Rabdtense ruins and Pemagyatse monastery.
In the evening we walk up to the Sangacholing, the oldest monastery in Sikkim.
Overnight at homestay in Darap village.

Day 4 - Darap

Visit the tranquil Khecheopalri lake or the wishing lake.
Later drive to Yuksom, the first capital of Sikkim.

Day 5 - Darap to Payong

Post breakfast drive down the Rangit valley to Singtam and later move up to Payong village.
Overnight at home-stay in Payong.

Day 6 - Payong

One can find the true flavors of a quintessential Sikkimese village in Payong. This tranquil village tucked away in a remote corner of Sikkim, is situated at the base of Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary. The village is a heterogeneous mix of Nepali communities like Chettri, Rai & Gurung, peppered with a few Lepchas.
Head out into the fields to enjoy the village life in rural Sikkim.
Overnight at home-stay in Payong.

Day 7 - Payong to Gangtok

Post lunch drive down to Gangtok. In the evening explore the trendy M.G Marg.
Overnight at a hotel in Gangtok.

Day 8 -  Gangtok

In the morning visit the Tibetiology museum
Proceed to Rumtek monastery.
Overnight at hotel in Gangtok.
Day 9 -  Gangtok to Bagdogra

In the morning drive down to Bagdogra airport.
