Must Visit Ganpati Mandaps / Pandals in Mumbai – where powerful Ganesha Resides

It is difficult to imagine Ganesh Chaturti without visiting some of the magnificent mandaps of Mumbai. Legends say that the true festive spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi is in Mumbai, I believe Mumbai is so happening and full of high spirit that even Ganesha loves to be here for the whole 11 days of the festival if not more.
If you're new to Mumbai, or have not yet had a glimpse of this divine artistry, here are some Ganpati mandaps, you must visit this year.

1. Lalbaugcha Raja: The King of Lalbaug is one of the most famous mandaps in the city that's visited by approximately 1.5 million people every day. Many people wait for a good 18 to 20 hours in queues only for a glance of the Lord.

2. Mumbaicha Raja: One of the oldest mandaps in the state, Mumbaicha Raja is located in Ganesh Galli and is particularly famous for its versatile themes and sets that replicate famous monuments and temples of India.

3. Andhericha Raja: Established way back in 1966 in Andheri by Azad Nagar Sarvajanik Utsav Samitee, this temple is also known for its bountiful themes and elaborate setups.

4. Girgaoncha Raja: Located in Girgaon, the Ganesh idol in this mandap is one of the tallest eco-friendly Ganpatis in Mumbai.

5. Khetwadicha Ganraj: Khetwadi area in South Mumbai consists of several lanes that have their own Ganesh mandaps, and each of them have very tall Ganpati idols. Out of all of them, Khetwadi Lane no.12 has one of the biggest, richest and most popular idols surrounded by colourful and beautiful paintings and lights.
6. GSB Seva mandal: Known as Mumbai's gold Ganesh, the idol here is adorned with ample amounts of gold. Interestingly, the richest mandap in the city has an idol that's made with eco-friendly clay. This mandap is located in King Circle, Matunga.

7. Bhandarkarcha Raja: This is another mandap located in Matunga. What makes this one stand out is that it feeds over 20,000 people in the course of the ten-day celebrations.

8. Tulsiwadi Cha Maharaja: Another one of Mumbai's famous mandaps, this one is located in Tardeo. In 2013, it was adorned with three lakh artificial diamonds (as you see in the pictures), making it one of the best Ganpati idols in the city that year.
9. Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani: Another one of the oldest mandaps in the city, the Ganpati idol is placed on a huge throne making it look heavenly.

10. Chandanwadi (Chira Bazaar) Ganpati: The Ganpati idol in this mandap is tall and mighty and is visited by many devotees. It is located in the Gujarati area of Chira Bazaar in South Mumbai.

Ganesh Chaturti is starting on this September 13, 2018. Plan a trip to Mumbai if you do not stay here. Get an advance booking done. Start to build relations with your far off relative and friends who can take you to these mandaps ditching the lines or can get passes arrainged.
